WORLD CLIMATE RESEARCH PROGRAMME (WCRP)
Introduction
The
conduct of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) is governed by an agreement
in 1993 between ICSU, WMO and IOC which makes the programme a collaborative undertaking
of the three organisations. The objectives of WCRP are to develop the fundamental
scientific understanding of the physical climate system and climate processes
need to determine to what extend climate can be predicted and the extent of man's
influence on climate.
There
is a joint WMO/ICSU and IOC scientific committee (JSC) which provided scientific
guidance in all aspects of the WCRP in harmony with overall aims of the sponsoring
organisations.
