SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE ON OCEANIC RESEARCH (SCOR):
Introduction
The
Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) was established by the Executive
Board of ICSU, in July 1957 to further international scientific activitity in
all branches of oceanic research. To do
so, SCOR examines problems and identifies elements that would benefit from enhanced
international action, including improvement of scientific methods, design of critical
experiments and measurement programmes, and relevant aspects of science plicy;
foster recognistion of individual marine scientists and laboratories; presents
the view of marine scientists to the appropriate international community; and
cooperates with national and international
organisations concerned with scientific aspects of ocean research and inter-related
activities.
