Introduction
The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), created in January 1955, is dedicated to promoting international cooperation in biochemistry via research, discussion, publication and standardization and is committed to promoting high standards of biochemistry throughout the world. The IUBMB fulfils these mandates in a variety of ways. Committees, charged with sponsoring symposia, educational activities and discussion of frontier research topics, sponsor meetings in all parts of the world. Onaverage, an IUBMB-sponsored activity occurs every two weeks around the world.
