11. INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICAL UNION (IMU)

Introducation

The International Mathematical Union (IMU) was founded in its present  form in 1951.  It originally adhered to IRC and ICSU from 1925 to 1932.  The objective of the Union is to promote international cooperation in mathematics.  It supports international scientific meetings and conferences and other international mathematical activities considered likely to contribute to the development of mathematical science in any of its aspects, pure and applied or educational.
