Dr Anny Cazanave has made outstanding research contributions through the application of space geodesy to a number of key research problems in the Earth System Sciences: the internal structure of the earth; temporal variations in the earth's gravity field; distribution of the fluid envelopes of the Earth; evolution of sea level and the response of the earth to climate change; continental hydrology.

For his discovery of the existence of dislocations in inter-crystalline interfaces and in the “structural unit model” of grain boundaries which is today’s accepted model of the atomic structure of grain boundaries and for his contributions to nanocrystalline materials.

Hohn, Barbara (b. 1939), Plant Molecular Biologist & Professor, Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedial Research, Maulbeerstrasse 66, CH-4058, Basel Switzerland.

For her pioneering contributions towards understanding of the mechanism of genetic transformation of plants by Agrobacterium tumefaciens, unravelling the roles of virulence proteins. She also investigated environmental influences on plant genomic stability.
