Committee on Responsibility and Ethics in Science:
An Inter-Academy Committee on Responsibility and Ethics in Science was established under the chairmanship of Professor MGK Menon. Its members include representatives of three National Academies (INSA, Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, National Academy of Sciences of India, Allahabad) and three subject Academies (medical, agriculture, and engineering). The first meeting of the Ethics Committee was held in the Academy on February 11, 2003. It was decided to prepare a National document on Ethics in Science which will cover ethical aspects concerned with all areas of science and will, apart from general issues, deal with ethics in pursuance of scientific research (authorship, plagiarism), education, professional integrity, as also the manner in which social justice, equity, human rights etc. impinge. The document will also discuss eastern philosophies and actual situations in developing societies.Report Expected.

Committee on Instrumentation in India:

A group under the chairmanship of Dr SK Sikka was set up to identify requirements and strategy for development of instrumentation in universities, research institutes and medical institutions & hospitals.

Committee on Women in Science:

A committee was constituted by the Academy with Dr Mehtab S Bamji as the chairperson to prepare a document containing information on present status of women in science in India, delineate the factors which influence science career for women and suggest measures that can reduce the impediments to women pursuing science career. The committee is interacting with SNDT University on a project mode basis for developing the data base on actual case basis which is a part of the background material for the report.

India Science Report:

The INSA had initiated preparation of the first India Science Report on the lines of the World Science Report of the UN.The Academy constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Professor P. Rama Roy.
The National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER) was commission to make a systematic and comprehensive assesment of Indian S&T Enterprise and it's infulence on Society at large. An attempt was made to obtain primary data from length and width of the country, analysed, interpretated, discussed amongst scientific community. The report focusses on science education , human Resources in science & technology and Public understanding of science.
